Fun on Vacation!

Well today we spent most of our day between two places: the toddler park and the beach. The sun came out and it turned into a gorgeous day on the Oregon Coast! Isaac built (and then destroyed) several things from sand sort of resembling sand castles, tried to outrun the waves with his daddy, and tried to bury mommy in the sand.

The Warners came with us and Isla didn’t care one bit that the water was freezing as she spent a good part of the afternoon splashing in the ocean.

Now we are back at the resort ending the day with a lovely sunset….

Vacation!

Teeth! Teeth!

Thought I would share this with you…

My wife and son have a morning ritual together, he brushes his teeth while she is in the bathroom getting ready for work. This morning Isaac was eating his breakfast and when then he heard the blow dryer. He dropped his grapes (his favorite breakfast fruit) and started shouting “Teeth! Teeth! Teeth!”. So I had to let him out of his chair so he could literally run into the bathroom to brush his teeth and hang out with his momma.

Before being a father I probably would not have found the joy in this little interaction…but now that I am a father, I thought it was pretty darn cute.

Sunday Fun

Yesterday Mary, Isaac, and I began the day by having Isaac dedicated at Roosevelt Community Church…so very cool to be a part of a local body of Christ that cares tremendously for the little ones! Then after that our Children’s peeps had organized an all church picnic in recognition of all the fabulous volunteers they have. You can find more pictures on the Roosevelt Community Church Facebook page.

And in other news…vacation starts in 5 days. Or 120 hours.

House on the Move and the Vacation Countdown Begins…

So this morning while we were eating breakfast we saw a house moving down Pinewood…pretty crazy. Isaac wasn’t sure what to think but I suppose he was happy it was not his house moving…

In other news, we are leaving on vacation in one week. 7 days. 168 hours. Can you tell I am ready? Been two years since we last took a vacation and we are definitely ready.

Where are we going you might ask? Oregon coast. Here’s to the next 7 days passing relatively quickly.

Conversations at 3:30am

So the last few nights it seems that Isaac is getting his last tooth. That is parent code for he is not sleeping through the night.

So at 3:30 this morning he woke up and was crying. This was my conversation with Mary before getting up to get him a bottle:
Me: Hun, has he had a bottle lately?
Mary: You have to unlock it with a password.
Me: What?
Mary: You have to unlock it with a password!
Me: His bottle?

At this point I got up and made a bottle just a little bit confused. Turns out she was having a work dream about PDF’s.

Time for a vacation.

Family Visit

Last night we had a surprise visit by my family on their way back from a motorcycle trip through Canada. They made it as far as Prince George BC and then had to turn around so my little sister can get to college today in Montana. Here are some pics of Isaac with the family.

Craziness

Things have been pretty crazy around the Garcia house as we have been without a “Grandma-Sitter” for our son Isaac. The wife and I are managing to swing it but it has taken some getting used to…

For instance, I am working a lot more in the evenings than I can at times appreciate. Boundaries in ministry and life in general are key to keeping your sanity but it seems lately the Lord has given me more sanity to make up for the deficit caused by working more in the evenings…If that made any sense to you then you have probably been there before. God does give us more than we can handle…alone. It is in those times that we rely on Him to get us through it and make it to the other side.

Faith.

Anyway, I get to officiate a wedding tomorrow which I am excited for…always neat to be a part of someone’s special moments in thier lives and even more exciting to see how God has been working in the lives of His people.

A God of Action

Ministry for me right now has been challenging…I’m being given opportunities that are growing me in ways I would have never known possible. It ha truly been an exciting couple of months and I have been given front row seats to see God do some pretty amazing things in the lives of those I have the privilege of ministering to.
